Gary Beals - Entertainment

Plasma Recording Artist and Canadian Idol Runner Up, Gary Beals, will release his debut album this summer. His first single “Summer Nights”, will be released to radio June 1, 2004.

When millions of viewers tuned in weekly to watch “Canadian Idol”, last summer, Gary Beals was a favourite attraction. Week after week the then 20 year old performer, wowed the audience with his heart felt renditions of songs such as Sarah McLaughlin’s “Angel" and executed his own masterful interpretation of Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed”. He was adored by fans for his outstanding vocal ability and the warmth he exhibited on stage, becoming 1st runner up in the singing competition.

Beals caught the attention of Canadian Idol Judge and Plasma Corporation Music Executive, Farley Flex. Flex immediately teamed him up with acclaimed producers/hit makers; multiple Juno Award winner Orin Isaacs and international multi-platinum producer Marcus Kane. Together they collaborated with Gary and created his self titled debut CD, soon to be released.

Gary is a dynamic and charismatic performer who was marked with rave reviews by critics after his appearance with Idol winner Ryan Malcolm at Halifax Metro Centre. As a child Gary's parents always had soul music playing in their home, so his appreciation for that genre developed at an early age. Gary grew up listening to “the greats” such as, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, & Lenny Williams, his vocal tone captures the essence of that era when soul music pierced the core of your being and conveyed heartfelt messages.

Recently Gary participated in the “Drop the Chrome” campaign as a member of the “Peace Prophets”. The group is comprised of nationally acclaimed music Artists such as Maestro, Michee Mee, “Canadian Idol finalist” and label-mate Toya Alexis and a number of other talented urban artists, together they recorded a single speaking out against gun violence. Produced by Marcus Kane, the song is now in high rotation being played on radio stations across Canada.
